A fast-growing evergreen tree ideal for privacy screens, windbreaks, and tall hedges with superior disease resistance and denser foliage than standard Leyland Cypress. This improved selection combines rapid growth with enhanced health and vigor, making it an excellent choice for creating quick privacy and year-round screening in residential and commercial landscapes.

Key Features

  • Rapid Growth Rate: Grows 3-4 feet per year once established—quickly creates privacy and screening
  • Dense Feathery Foliage: Rich green, soft-textured foliage remains attractive year-round
  • Improved Disease Resistance: Better tolerance to canker diseases and bagworms compared to standard Leyland Cypress varieties
  • Tall Screening Capability: Reaches 40-60 feet tall and 15-20 feet wide at maturity
  • Adaptable to Various Conditions: Thrives in full sun and tolerates a wide range of soil types and pH levels
  • Drought Tolerant: Once established, tolerates dry conditions better than many evergreens
  • Low Maintenance: Requires minimal care once established
  • Excellent Wind Tolerance: Strong branching structure withstands wind and ice

Landscape Uses

Excellent for privacy screens, property line buffers, windbreaks, and tall evergreen hedges. Plant 8-10 feet apart for dense screening or 12-15 feet apart for individual specimens. Works well as a specimen tree, in rows for maximum privacy, or as a backdrop for mixed borders. Ideal for blocking unwanted views, reducing noise pollution, and creating outdoor rooms. The fast growth makes it perfect for new construction sites needing quick landscape maturity. Combines beautifully with flowering shrubs and ornamental grasses at the base.

Care & Growing Conditions

Plant in full sun in well-drained soil. Tolerates clay, loam, and sandy soils with pH ranging from acidic to slightly alkaline. Water regularly during the first two growing seasons to establish a deep root system, then reduce watering once established. Prune annually in late winter or early spring to maintain desired height and shape. Remove lower branches if desired for a more tree-like form. Apply 2-3 inches of mulch around the base to conserve moisture and suppress weeds. Avoid planting in poorly drained or compacted soils. Fertilize in early spring with a balanced evergreen fertilizer for optimal growth and color.
